Photo…you guessed it The Padulo Bros.

I guess your skate style is like a finger print no way to change it or disguise it…JR got together with Matt and Dave Padulo last week in NJ after some 23 odd years ….they had a grand “old” time.

I have a growing folder of Ken Salerno’s work….thought I would start with a two for one…Das Bruthas Charno: Glen and Rick at Cheapskates. I have a couple more shots that seem to all be from this session that I will put up soon enough. Along with a string of other Salerno gems.

Josh Marlowe in the Red

Great video…Anyone remember this being filmed and who is skating in the OC part?

Barely anyone has watched these vids on YT… I think I am responsible for half the hits. The whole thing kills…lotsa Miller and Tony Magnusson too…Crazy music as well….anyone wanna comment on the people and places feel free. Is that Gator in the black? and who is in the red doing the tuck knee invert?

Kona!! Ho Ho Plant(Schneer?) and  Tony Magnusson

Well I dislocated my shoulder wearing full pads on a miniramp….Killing it in a giant pool in Australia without  pads…not even a long sleeve T-shirt would have made for a better story. Not sure if Ben dislocated his shoulder but it looked painful…Skating has become so fricken gnarley, looks like Ben can teach a seminar on frontside smiths as well…too cool. I remember when skating a ramp in the middle of winter with snow on the ground was considered gnarley….Whole new level these days. Great stuff, killer vid, killer sound.

486: The 78 Ditch Revisited

January 28, 2010

I heard about the 78 ditch about two weeks ago, and ever since we’ve been in a frenzy to find its exact location. I was in contact with Jason Oliva, an old school skater who hit the place over 20 years ago. Through searching Youtube, some blogs by Jason on House Of Steam’s wordpress.com account, and some extensive Google Maps usage, we were able to locate the 78 ditch. We followed the fence, did a little house keeping to make it skateable again, and documented with stills and video. The “Green Door,” some rails, plenty of tags, and drop-in points are all there. It was an awesome day and lots of people went in to making it happen. We will definitely be there again. For anyone that needs the help, contact us for directions. We will bring back to glory of the 78 Ditch!

Nice work PJ!!

I cant believe how overgrown it is most of those trees on the righthand  side were not even there 22 years ago…you could be seen skating it from the highway now its nice and shady. So the cycle continues…Most of the grafitti on the ditch was there before any of us showed up in the mid 80′s I also remember a guy named Ray Bolbe(sp) would be there riding an old school long board. I dont think we will ever know who found it first but it was not us so things get passed on. Cant wait to see it again when I am back in the states.

Cheers

Jason

PS here is how it looked in 1988 from a Film Ben Cornish Shot of myself and Michael Pruskowski

Patrick is a Jerse skater from back in the day. We met cyberironically over some  JT Murphy pics emailed to me by Ken Salerno there was PG in the folder as well. Since then I have checked out Patricks Totally and they have become my new favorite post modern band of gypsy skate company on the block from New Jersey…hands down. I will post some more pics of their crew for sure but head over to the Totally website and check it out for yourself they all kill it,and the videos are hosted on the site so there are some cool tunes that have not been wiped out by the likes of youtube.

Here is some more from Patrick:

Totally –   It really was one of those funny things… it began as a conversation between me and a good friend of mine, Dave Wasnak, just talking about how cool it would be to do something like design t-shirts or something, and eventually those conversations led to the idea of making boards.   And then eventually we spent enough time talking about it that we just decided to go ahead and take a shot at it.
I had skated for 5boro from it’s inception in 1996 until 2002, and that whole experience was amazing.  In the early days of 5boro, everyone involved played a role in its development.  It was not much different from what I’m doing now in that it’s just a bunch of friends skating and creating something we think is great.   I try not to get caught up in industry hype, and clever bullshit.  I really just enjoy the whole process of making a brand I think is cool, and I enjoy skating our boards.   We really do just have a lot of fun with it.   My partner, Dave, is about as good a business partner as anyone could hope for, so even though we are really hacking our way through the business side of things, it’s a lot easier when you have a solid person with a lot of good ideas to help along the way.  Now we just need someone to do sales for us, because we are horrible at pushing stuff! haha
